He is responsible for day-to-day operations, global vision and strategic relationships. Dr. Madu served on the Faculty of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Vanderbilt University. He is an expert in non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics, with broad training and experience in all areas of cardiovascular diagnosis. He has advanced training in echocardiography and is versatile in advanced echocardiography modalities. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Forensic Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Madu is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He serves on the Expert Review board for several cardiology journals including the journal Echocardiography, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of Hypertension, Clinical Cardiology and the American Journal of Cardiology. Dr Madu is an internationally renowned Cardiologist that is well respected in the international cardiology community. He has published extensively in well respected medical journals including such journals as Nature Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Clinical Cardiology, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and Hypertension. Dr Madu has made significant contributions to medical science through scholarly research. He is responsible for the demonstration and quantification of papillary muscle contribution to ventricular ejection in normal and hypertrophic ventricles. Dr Madu is also credited with the validation of Transesophageal Stress Echocardiography for the assessment of ischemic heart disease in Morbid Obesity. This procedure which derives from his seminal work published in the Journal Chest has become the standard tool for the noninvasive evaluation of morbidly obese individuals worldwide for coronary artery disease. |

Edwin Tulloch-Reid, MBBS, FACC Director of Clinical Services, Consultant Cardiologist Medical School: University of the West Indies, Jamaica Training: NY Medical College USA; Montreal Heart Institute, Canada & University of Pittsburgh, USA Board Certification: Internal Medicine & Cardiovascular Disease Faculty Positions Held: University of the West Indies An Interventional Cardiologist and Vice President, Cardiovascular Services for HIC, Dr. Tulloch-Reid has been a practicing physician and Cardiologist in Jamaica since 1997 when he was appointed Consultant Physician at the Kingston Public Hospital. A medical graduate of the University of the West Indies, he went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at York Medical College-Metropolitan Hospital Center and subsequently a cardiology fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute/University of Montreal and an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. He is US board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of the West Indies. Dr. Tulloch-Reid is versatile in all invasive and interventional diagnostic and treatment modalities commonly utilized for routine cardiac care in the United States. Dr. Garcia is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at the Heart Institute of the Caribbean. He is trained in specialized in Adult and Pediatric Cardiology. Dr. Garcia has an MD with honors from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. He completed residency and fellowship training in Cardiology, Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He was initially appointed a Consultant Cardiologist in 1998. He is an accomplished Clinical Investigator and has published his research works in peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Garcia has recently completed a book on “management of cardiac arrhythmias” awaiting publication. He underwent advanced postgraduate training in medicine at the Cosme Argerich Hospital in Buenos Aires Argentina. Dr. Furlani completed Cardiology and Electrophysiology Fellowships at Cosme Argerich Hospital and at Montreal Heart Institute in Montreal, Canada. He is an active member of the ISHNE (International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrophysiology) and has published in leading cardiology journals and presented his research works at various cardiovascular scientific meetings.

Her practice concentration is in General and Vascular Surgery. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, USA,. she obtained her MD at Yale University Medical School and performed her Surgical Residency also at Yale. Dr Brown also holds a faculty position at the University of West Indies Medical School. She is board certified in General Surgery and is a member of several medical organizations and associations. Dr. Brown has published several papers and has made numerous scientific presentations internationally. Dr. Brown is the first female to be appointed Consultant in General Surgery at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica.

Dr. Ubong was appointed Honorary Consultant physician to the Department of Medicine at the University Hospital of the West Indies and also serves as a research fellow in the Sickle Cell Unit at the Tropical Research Institute, UWI.

Jacqueline Duncan, MBBS, MPH
Consultant Internist Medical School: University of the West Indies, Jamaica Training: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, NY & Duke University, USA Board Certification: Internal Medicine; Occupational Medicine Dr Duncan completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Columbia University in New York and an Occupational Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Duke University Medical School. She also holds an MPH degree in Public Health from Duke University. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Occupational Medicine. She is currently the only board certified Occupational Medicine physician in practice in the West Indies. An expert in corporate wellness and executive physicals, she is the Physician Director of the Wellness Program at HIC. He completed fellowships in Critical Care Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center and in Pulmonology at the Lenox Hill Hospital. He has served as Consultant Physician/ Pulmonologist at the National Chest Hospital since July 2000. He is US board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology and Critical Care. He is an expert in a wide range of techniques in Interventional Pulmonology including endobronchial tumor resection by electrocautery and laser as well as endobronchial/ end tracheal stenting. She is also a Co-Founder of EchoDoctors of America LLC. Dr. Baugh previously served on the faculty of the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical School in the USA and also as Medical Director of PHV at Vanderbilt University College of Medicine, for four years prior to founding NIMA and NIMA Spa. NIMA has become one of the fastest growing medical practices in Tennessee and employs a multi-specialty group of physicians. Dr. Baugh is an expert in preventive medicine and cardiac risk management.

Trevor Ferguson, MBBS, DM Consultant Internist Medical School: University of the West Indies, Jamaica Training: University Hospital of the West Indies, Jamaica Specialty Degree: Internal Medicine A Consultant Physician at HIC, Dr. Ferguson received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. Dr. Ferguson underwent postgraduate training at the University Hospital of the West Indies specializing in Internal Medicine. Dr. Ferguson is a research fellow at the Epidemiology Research Unit of the Tropical Medicine Institute at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He is also an Honorary Consultant at the University Hospital of the West Indies as well as a Consultant Physician at Andrews Memorial Hospital in Jamaica. He is currently on a leave of absence to complete his Masters in Epidemiology at the University of London.

(Orthotics), NMD,MD(Integrated Medicine) Dr. Garth Officer is a Consultant Nutritionist and Holistic Physician at the Heart Institute of the Caribbean. His practice concentration is in Nutrition, Alternative Medicine and Holistic Medicine. Dr Officer is responsible for structuring nutritional interventions and complementary remedies as an adjunctive therapy in the care of cardiac patients at the Heart Institute. He works closely with our Cardiovascular Specialists in meeting the varied needs of our patients. Dr. Officer has taught at several foreign institutions and colleges and has served on several educational boards.

Tanya
Roxanne Clarke, MBBS Dr. Tanya Clarke is a Consultant Physician at the Heart Institute of the Caribbean Ltd. Her practice concentration is in Internal Medicine. Dr. Clarke is graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica where she received her MBBS. She has the distinction of being the first female to graduate from UWI with honors with distinction. Dr. Clarke did postgraduate training at the University of the West Indies, Yale University and the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Dr. Clarke is a Consultant Physician and lecturer in the Department of Medicine , University of West Indies . She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has received several Honors and Awards throughout her medical career. Dr. Clarke has published several papers and has made numerous scientific presentations internationally.
