Electrophysiology Study
The Heart Institute of
the Caribbean will perform the
first
Electrophysiology Study
(EP) Study in Jamaica.
The
electrophysiology study (EP study) is a special
catheterization test in which electrode catheters
(flexible, insulated wires with metal electrode tips)
are inserted into the heart in order to study the
cardiac electrical system.
This will be on location at the head office in Kingston
at 11:00.

HIC Annual 3K Heart Walk
Our
Annual Heart Walk will kick off at 7.00am on Sunday,
April 06, 2008 in the car park of the Heart Institute of
the Caribbean at 23 Balmoral Avenue, Kingston 10.
The proposed route for this year's 3K Heart Walk, held
under the theme "Walk Your Way to Longer Life"
will be left along Balmoral Avenue, right on to Cargill
Avenue, right on to Half Way Tree Road, left on to
Ruthven Road, right on to Trafalgar Road and right on to
Holburn Road. Participants will proceed along Holburn
Road to Chelsea Avenue, then turn right on to Half Way
Tree Road and finally left on to Balmoral Avenue. |

Dr. Marshall Tulloch-Reid to present study on "Type
2 Diabetes Present in Jamaican Youth" at the
American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE)
Sixteenth Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress
New
research indicates that a significant number of Jamaican
adolescents and young adults are being diagnosed with
type 2 diabetes, a disease once seen almost exclusively
in middle aged and elderly adults. These findings will
be presented at the American Association of Clinical
Endocrinologists (AACE) Sixteenth Annual Meeting and
Clinical Congress which will be held April 11-15 at the
Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle.
